Wilzetta spent her professional life in education as a teacher and a counselor. Her career in education has been recognized with numerous accolades including Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Harris Teachers College and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from St. Louis University. She is also the recipient of an Education Administration certification from Washington University.
Providing resources for further education and advocating for gender equality for women and girls has been a passion for Wilzetta. As an elder of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she has personally sponsored female high school students to attend colleges and universities. Wilzetta is a Lifetime Member of the Women’s Society of Washington University and a member of their Advisory Board as well as a Lifetime Member of the Alumnae Association at Harris-Stowe and past President. At both of these organizations, she has been involved in the selection and awarding of scholarships something she also does as Vice President of the Ladies Council at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Wilzetta is a member of St. Louis Celebrity Seniors Inc., where she chairs the Humanitarian Awards giving grants to non-profits which are presented at the annual Jazz/Blues Brunch fundraiser. She is also Co-President of the American Association of University Women, Ferguson Florissant Branch.
Wilzetta has two children, a son who lives in New Hampshire and a daughter who lives in Mississippi. She loves John Grisham novels and every day she “tries to get up and go out and just do”!
