Jorge Alegre, M.D.

A lifetime career at St. Luke’s Hospital for 52 years as a Cardiologist, Dr. Alegre continues to work every day, caring for patients and as a faculty member of the St. Luke’s Medical Residency Program. He has served as Medical Director and Director of In-House Medical Staff, and is one of the few physicians who will still make house calls today.

Margaret (Marge) Aylward

A nontraditional college graduate of Maryville University, serving on the the National Leadership Council, Marge, has dedicated her career as a wife and mother to not only her family, but those less fortunate. She divides her time among causes devoted to helplessness, the sick, elderly and babies – inspiring her children and grandchildren to do likewise.

A proud alumni and national high school one mile record holder of Sumner High School, Ron has given his life to the needs of inner-city St. Louis and to the people who live there. After graduation from Notre Dame in 1961, Ron returned to St. Louis and served as an exemplary teacher, mentor, civil rights activist and positive role model for St. Louis citizens for the past six decades.

Serving as a current board member and past president of the Interfaith Partnership, he encourages constant interaction and collaboration between members of different backgrounds and faiths, stimulating intellectual and spiritual exercise and a greater sense of community and purpose.

Mary Ann and Richard are a power couple who champion social justice and sustainability through the arts, education and culture. Married for 55 years, Mary Ann, a founder and past Executive Director of U City in Bloom, and her husband Richard, a retired heart surgeon spend numerous hours and financial resources helping others, all for the greater good.

Dedication to his career began as a teenager for Dr. Vargas by selling single cigarettes and pieces of gum on the street corner in the Philippines to buy his first bicycle to ride to school.

Bob likes to say that he has had careers with two of the world’s finest institutions, Washington University and Edward Jones. At Washington University beginning in 1960, he taught accounting to hundreds of students and, from 1977-1993, was dean of the John M. Olin School of Business.
